10th Annual Meeting, 2001

The OPEN Tenth Annual Meeting was held on Sunday, November 18, 2001 at the Congregational church in Newton. Newton students from Smila, Ukraine made a few comments of their impressions of Newton schools and their feelings about their host families.

Several guests were in attendance including the consul from the Ukraine Consulate Generals Office in Chicago Mykola Kravchenko who, after making a few remarks and responding to questions, was presented two gifts from OPEN. We were fortunate to have 5 guests from Cherkasy, Ukraine. O.P.E.N. was a co-sponsor of the Food, Music & Culture portion of the Des Moines Area Community College's "Year Of Ukraine".
