Arrangements are made for two Ukrainian students, Vladimir Ratay of Smila
and Dimitriy Ishchenko of Cherkassy to study in Newton and Baxter beginning
this fall.
July, 1994
OPEN assists with housing for the Gold Star Group of South Korea, an
electronic and appliance marketing firm, with arrangements from Global
Ventures in Grinnell. This is the first of many such cooperative efforts.
October, 1994
OPEN delegates visit the Ukrainian consulate in Chicago and the Director
General Roy Y.Y. Wu, of Chicago Office Coordination Council for North
American Affairs, Taiwan.
November, 1994
A second group from Gold Star Company (Korea) arrives; OPEN helps
coordinate housing efforts. The third annual meeting for OPEN features an
exhibit of Trypillian artifacts called "Art at the Dawn of Civilization,"
together with Ukrainian artists Ruslan Naida and Lesia Honchar of Kyiv.
The "OPEN Cares" project is launched.
